Kaine Reynolds wants nothing more than solitude. After an unthinkable tragedy destroys his family, he’s cut off all ties to his former life so he can battle his grief the only way he knows how.
So when Piper Campbell knocks on his door, rambling on about being his new neighbor, he slams the door in her face.
But Kaine’s gruff demeanor doesn’t scare her. She’s set on living in Montana and starting over after a terrible divorce. And she wouldn’t mind having a fling to chase away the pain of her husband’s betrayal. Her handsome, albeit rude, neighbor is the perfect candidate.
Yet what neither of them suspect is that their no-strings affair will result in the surprise of Piper’s lifetime—and Kaine’s worst fear.
Tragic by Devney Perry is the third book in the Lark Cove series and though I have found the entire series to be an emotional one, this one had some heart-wrenching moments. As we head back to Lark Cove, Piper Campbell, Logan’s assistant, wants a fresh start after a heartbreaking divorce. She decides to make the move to Lark Cove from New York to begin the process of finally moving forward.
Piper Campbell is smart and confident, but her divorce left her feeling a bit lost and broken. She is not ready for something serious, but is open to letting go and doing casual, or so she thinks. Kaine Reynolds broke my heart. After a tragedy leaves him bereft, he hides away from the world. The last thing he wants is to ever feel or want again. But when Piper moves in next door, she brings out things him he never wanted to feel again. Can Kaine learn to let love in again?
Tragic by Devney Perry was an emotional and touching story about second chances, hope and love. Kaine and Piper found each other when they needed each other the most, but will they realize it before it’s too late? Though each book in this series can technically be read as a standalone, the entire series is worth reading. I have loved and devoured each book!
