Cutler Ryder was everything I wasn’t.
He was the hockey star. I was an outcast. He was best friends with my stepbrother, that same stepbrother who hated me. His two parents loved him. My mom was a junkie. My dad barely knew me.
Years passed. I got my life together. Cut went onto NHL stardom. Then there was a text.
I was drinking. There was a party. Cut was there....
I loved Cutler Ryder since the first moment I saw him.
The only problem? He never knew I existed.
When I first read The Not-Outcast by Tijan I absolutely loved it. Loved it. I could not wait to read it again, so when it came out on audio, I was all over it. Narrated by Andi Arndt and Jason Clarke, I loved it even more. Andi was absolutely amazing in bringing Cheyenne to life. Jason Clarke completely gave us protective and caring Cut. They were both amazing and I could not stop listening!
Cheyenne and Cut are amazing characters. Cheyenne broke my heart. She was so misunderstood and lost when she was young. No one seemed to put her needs first. But she was strong and determined and got the help she needed on her own. She is definitely one my top favorite female characters ever. She struggled, but she had some great friends who were there for her no matter what. Cut was sexy, charming and protective. He never saw Cheyenne coming, but once she was in his life, he was all in. I loved that about him.
There were also some great secondary characters I loved. The Tomcats were something else and they had me laughing out loud. And Hunter and Cheyenne relationship’s was wonderful. This story had great characters and a captivating story. And I must say, Tijan’s depiction of Cheyenne was completely spot on. Understanding and describing someone who suffers with mental disorders is hard, but this author did an amazing job at it. The Not-Outcast by Tijan was one of my top 2020 reads and listens. It was emotional, angsty, and steamy. A must-read/or listen for sure!
