Max Horton

They call me an outcast like it's a bad thing.

An asshole by-product of a shitty upbringing, I don't care about anything except myself and my little sister. I will always protect what’s mine.

With one year left on my hockey contract, I'm keeping my head down and my eyes on the goal.

A collision with her changes my entire existence.

Allison Grant

Never fall in love with a sports star. That's what my stepfather always said. He told me athletes are complicated and moody - that the higher their paycheck, the lower their morals.

As public relations for the New York Stingers, I know exactly what he means, but I can’t seem to say no to a friendship with one beautiful, damaged man.

What started out as hate turned into something else. We tried to stay away, to keep our distance, but the pull was too strong.

Something forbidden turned into something so irresistible.

Liz's Audio Review

I absolutely loved Mad Max! We first meet him in Matthew’s book, Something So Perfect, and he just stole my heart. He is broken and lost, but such a protective alpha who loves hard. He knows Allison Grant is so out of his league and just plain untouchable, but the connection is undeniable. Allison is excited for her new job, she knows its perfect for her, but dealing with Max Horton is the last thing she wants, right?

Right from the start, there is undeniable chemistry between Max and Allison, but after everything that has happened between Matthew, her brother, and Max, nothing could ever happen between them. But as they spend time together, Allison sees a different side of Max. Their story was a slow burn enemies to lovers story with so many feels. You can feel their love coming right off the pages. I just devoured their story and I never wanted it to end.

Joe Hempel and Cassandra Myles were absolutely wonderful as Max and Allison and truly brought their story to life for me. Though technically each book in the series could be read/listened to as standalones, it is so worth reading them. I loved them and we get a peek at the previous couples. Such a great story about second chances, love, hope and family.

About Natasha Madison

Natasha Madison

When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals.

You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips.

It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
