The Holly Dates by Brittainy Cherry was absolutely amazing and I loved it. This is a holiday romance, but it is also by the amazing Brittainy Cherry, so it hit me right in the feels. I love how Holly and Kai meet. It is most definitely not a meet-cute but brought them into each other lives when they needed the other. Holly is in search for someone to bring home for the holidays after what happened to her the previous Christmas. Let me tell you it was not good and left her brokenhearted. Even so, she was determined to move forward. She was vulnerable and hurting but also hopeful and strong. Kai was hurt deeply by people he loved and should have loved him back. When his world was turned upside down, his outlook turned dark and lonely. He was determined to never let love in. He was hurt, broken and yet had a big heart he kept hidden.
When Holly starts bringing her first dates to his restaurant, Kai is determined to move it along and help her find the one so it can end. But as he helps her, they become friends and spend time together. He is shocked when he begins to feel jealous. But he can never love again, right? I loved these two characters so much. They were hurt and scared, but sometimes the risk is worth it. The way they became friends and talked to each other was honest and fun and I just loved their journey. It was emotional and touching and I devoured every word. Such a fun grumpy-sunshine holiday romance and one I highly recommend!
