I absolutely loved the first 95% of Scoring With Him by Lauren Blakely. Until then I had forgotten this was part of a duet. Up until then, this was one of the best friends to lovers story I have ever read. From the minute Declan and Grant meet, you can feel their chemistry coming off the pages and their witty banter was the best. I loved their honesty and connection so much. These two were just so good together. But, and this is huge, they are on the same team and should be forbidden. Baseball is their life and a relationship would only get in the way, right?
Declan was determined and very dedicated. He almost lost what meant so much to him once, so nothing would stand in his way again. Ever. Grant was clever, smart and just as determined. As a rookie, he had something to prove. And the shortstop he has crushed on for years, well, noting would come of it right? I have to say, these two just blew me away. I loved everything about them. They both had grown up fast and learned some hard lessons but were still very likeable and easygoing. But life has a way of getting in the way and that ending, that ending hurt my heart. I am now waiting desperately for book two.
