Reading Not What I Expected by Jewel E Ann was so unexpected and fun. An enemies to lovers romance that captivated me from the start and where I found myself smiling through most of the story. Elsie is in her forties, married and has grown children and is not happy. She wants more out of life. She deserves, more, right? What she never expected was Kael, the easy-going, likable and steamy new owner of a competing shop. He is younger and though he is the enemy, their chemistry is undeniable.
My favorite thing about Elsie is how she could be any one of us. She was just so relatable. Now she is just trying to find her new normal when Kael enters her life. They are so different from each other, but could that just be what they both needed? Their journey was fun, entertaining and just what they needed. I loved Not What I expected by Jewel E Ann!
