I’ve loved him as long as I can remember.

The gangly boy with big brown eyes and unruly hair who grew up into an intoxicating man. He wears scruff like he invented it and ambles with a swagger that makes panties drop.

Killian Shepard.

Shep.

We grew up together. We played Ghost in the Graveyard. Had our own rock band. It didn’t matter that he was five years older than me. It didn’t matter that he looked at me as a kid sister even as I grew into woman. It didn’t even matter when he left me behind to go to college and start his adult life.

He’d be back.
He was always meant to be mine.

He came back, all right. But instead of smelling of promises, he stunk of betrayal. And he destroyed me—us—the day he married my sister instead of me.

So I did the only thing a girl like me in my position could do.

I got my revenge.
I married his brother, Kael.
Now we’re one big happy f*cking family.

I originally read Black Swan Affair by K.L. Kreig in September 2017 and loved it. Absolutely loved it. When I heard it came out on audio, I knew I had to listen to it. This book was amazing reading while reading and I could imagine how much better the audio would be and let me tell you, it did not disappoint! Ava Erickson and Tad Branson brought Maverick and Kael to life. I got lost in the audio and the feels were fierce! This is a book that must be read/listen and falls under one of my top reads ever!

Original review while reading, because it captures exactly what I felt and loved about this book:

Every once in a while you read a book that blows you away. This book did not only blow me away, it knocked me down. It made me feel the words right down to my soul. I lived this story. This book is exactly why I read. I want to tell everyone to run, run and read this book. Right now. It is so worth it.

This was one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful book I have ever read. I do not believe I could ever express how I felt while reading this story or give this book the praise it truly deserves. K.L. Krieg wrote some of the most beautiful words I have ever read. They touched my heart. I fell in love.

Maverick DeSoto has loved one man all her life. She does not remember a time she did not love Killian Shepard. But five years her senior, he kept her at arm’s length. Until he couldn’t. Killian Shepard has always known Maverick DeSoto was meant to be his. But he knew he needed to show her family, her father, he was worthy of her. He set out to do just that.

Full of love and promise, Maverick dreams of the day Killian will return and they can finally be together and have the future she has always dreamed off. But when he returns, he not only shatters her heart, but also her world. He marries her sister.

Heartbroken and devastated, she marries Kael, Killian’s younger brother. Both men have been a part of her life since the day she was born. One her heart, the other her best friend. Both love her more than either can express.

So begins a story woven so well, you will be captivated from the start. Told in dual point of views and a timeline of the past and present. There were times I felt my heart ripping in half, then it would swoon and sigh, and then is would be so unbearably sad. There is so much I want to share, but this is a story that must be experienced, not spoiled. Just know everything you feel while reading it is so worth it.

I can not express how much I loved and enjoyed this book. Every minute of it, even when I was left heartbroken and sobbing. It was so beautifully crafted. What I will say is I truly believe the ending could have not been any better. It was perfect. She made the right choice. I know not everyone will agree, but I really could not see any other outcome.

This is a love triangle. It is obvious from the blurb, however, it is so much more. It is about love, forgiveness, redemption, and moving forward. It’s about making choices and following your heart. It is really, just so worth reading and experiencing it
