My name is Cassidy Porter…

My father, Paul Isaac Porter, was executed twenty years ago for the brutal murder of twelve innocent girls.

Though I was only eight-years-old at the time, I am aware – every day of my life – that I am his child, his only son.

To protect the world from the poison in my veins, I live a quiet life, off the grid, away from humanity.

I promised myself, and my mother, not to infect innocent lives with the darkness that swirls within me, waiting to make itself known.

It’s a promise I would have kept…if Brynn Cadogan hadn’t stumbled into my life.

Now I exist between heaven and hell: falling for a woman who wants to love me, while all along reminding myself that I must remain…
Unloved.

**NOTE: This book is intended for readers 18+**

I have been reading Katy Regnery’s books for some time now and have enjoyed reading them. However, Unloved blew me away! It was so unexpected and absolutely consuming. The blurb gives you a glimpse to what the story is about, but in reality, it is so much more.

Cassidy Porter’s life changed for the worse when he was eight years old. His father, Paul Isaac Porter, committed brutal crimes against innocent girls. He is arrested and tried and Cassidy and his mom are never the same again. Cassidy never forgets who his father is, but the residents of where he and his mother live never let them forget either. Ostracized, his mom relocates them to his grandfather’s place, which puts them off the grid.

Brynn Cadogan almost had it all and then tragedy tore her apart when her fiancé is killed in a mass shooting. Left grief-stricken and devastated, she has shut out the world for the last two years. When faced with a reminder of that painful past, she decides to move forward, but first, she must lay that past to rest

On her journey to her destination, Brynn is faced with danger and is fighting for her life. She is saved by an unlikely hero. Cassidy is immediately drawn to Brynn, but how can he ever live a normal life with what he carries from his father. He promises to help Brynn get better, but then she must leave. But for the first time in two years, Brynn feels something and is not ready to walk away.

My heart was in pieces from the start of the book and never let up. Cassidy and Brynn had suffered so much in their lives. Could they find a way to surpass their tragedies and find love and happiness? Cassidy’s life has been tragic, lonely and heartbreaking. While Brynn is full of grief and loss. Could two such broken people find solace in each other?

I was captivated by Unloved from start to finish. My heart felt like it was on a roller coaster the entire time. Their journey was heartbreaking. I loved both characters, though Cassidy really won me over. He feared the bad that could dwell in him, but we could easily see the good him.

Katy Regnery gave us a story that is unexpected and with many surprises. It is a must read. This is not your traditional romance, but one that will stay with you.
