Being butler to a widower and single father is a dream job in more ways than one for Charlotte “Charlie” Emerson. She helps keep businessman Ethan Archer’s household running without a hitch and enjoys every minute she has with his six-year-old son, Wells. But as time passes, the situation feels alarmingly intimate and when her heart starts beating faster each time Ethan steps through the door, Charlie must exert rigid control over her feelings.

With her secret, falling in love would be all kinds of bad…

Ethan Archer values the woman who keeps his life in order and cares so much for his motherless boy. He and Charlie act in harmony with each other and it’s not hard to picture them as a little family…in fact, it’s so easy, one reckless night he proposes a marriage of convenience.

What will he do if Charlie says yes? And worse, what if she tells him no?

The Secret by Christie Ridgway is NOW LIVE!

The Secret by Christie Ridgway was a fun, quick read with just a touch of angst. A story about a prim and proper female butler and the Archer men who fall for her.

Charlotte Emerson, Charlie, is a graduate of the first ever all female butler class at a prestigious school. For about a year she has been helping Ethan Archer manage his home and care for his six-year old son. She loves her job, adores the child and to her dismay, has recently started seeing Ethan in new ways. Ways a butler should not be looking or thinking of her employer.

Ethan Archer, a widower, firmly believes his one and only true love was his late wife, Michelle. They shared a strong and powerful love. He does not believe he is capable of ever loving again. He lives for his son. But he also worries about the future and what his son needs.

I liked Charlie very much. She was practical and sensible, but Ethan had a way of unsettling her, to her constant shock. But underneath that prim and proper exterior, she was loving and caring. Ethan was crushed by the death of his wife. But he moved forward for his son. He was strong, powerful, and sweet. Though he never thought he could love again, Charlie made him wants things he thought he would never have again.

I loved the easy and sweet nature of this story. Charlie has been a part of the Archer home for under a year, but she fits right in. The Archer men, Ethan and his son, Wells, open their home and arms to her. But Charlie has a secret she is hiding. Will that secret destroy any chance of a future for them?

The Secret was a very entertaining and sweet read with a little added angst. Though they believe they are entering a marriage of convenience, Ethan and Charlie have a strong chemistry that is continuously felt. This was a good story with very likable characters.
