Three years ago she was left in pieces . . .

Most college freshmen love the newfound freedom of living on campus, but none of them craves it like Beth Caplan. One ill-fated night when she was fifteen left her locked in a posh prison of private tutors. It's for the best, everyone said, and maybe it was. But after years of hard work and healing, the one person who never thought of her as broken could be the one to break her all over again. And Beth can't seem to stay away now any more than she could all those years ago.

As soon as David March learned his best friend's little sister was enrolling at his school, he promised to look after her, and promised himself he'd keep a safe distance. But the sweet little girl he'd grown up with has transformed into a gorgeous young woman, and she's attracting attention from people she shouldn't-like the ex who nearly destroyed her and a strange new student with a disturbing habit of showing up wherever Beth goes. But for David, the most troubling discovery is realizing that he doesn't just want Beth to be safe. He wants her to be his.

I loved In Ruins, even as it broke my heart, so I was not surprised on how much I enjoyed In Pieces by Danielle Pearl. This was a great coming of age story with angst, romance, older brother’s best friend and a bit of suspense. You will be captivated from start to finish.

Beth Caplan was left in pieces when she was fifteen. All everybody wanted to do after was protect her and keep her safe. It took her a long time to heal and find herself, but college is a fresh start for her and she could not be more excited. She wants to experience life and just live. Though she was still vulnerable, she was also strong and determined.

David March is Beth’s older brother’s best friend and when he learns she is going to be attending his school, promises to keep her safe. What he was not prepared for was the woman she is now and now he may need to keep her safe from himself as well. Because all he wants now, is to make her his. I loved David. He was protective and possessive of Beth, even as he struggled with what he was feeling towards her.

Once at school, Beth begins to open herself up slowly.  David is there every step of the way. Though he is the one person who never saw her as broken, he is determined to be there for her. As Beth and David spend time together, will they allow what they feel to progress or will loyalties destroy any chances they have before it even starts? And as Beth’s past and present collide and new mystery approaches, will she be able to survive or will she be left in pieces again?

I was consumed by Beth and David’s story. Their romance was sweet and full of so many emotions and angst. It was a story of finding who you are, how strong you can be and learning to let go and to let love in. I loved the story and the characters and cannot wait to read more of not only this series, but to go back to original series.
