Standing on the balcony, outside my boss’s apartment, wearing only my underwear?
Not how I expected to start my Saturday morning.
I guess I should’ve thought harder about going home with my sexy new gym instructor, especially since I had no idea the guy was married. When he pushed me out onto the balcony, five seconds before his wife walked through the door, I jumped one apartment over because I thought it would be less embarrassing for a stranger to find me than his wife.
That was a smart move.
So here I am, wearing next to nothing and freezing my ass off, standing outside the living room window of my young, sexy, and very intimidating boss, Chase Winston.
I have two choices: I sit here and try to think of another way out of this and risk dying of hypothermia. Or I can suck it up and knock on that window. After a long, internal argument with myself, I choose
option two.Here goes nothing…
**Awkward Love is a series of short, sexy, fun novels that can be read in ANY order. Each book is COMPLETELY separate from the next, so you can read one, or you can read them all!**
I am truly enjoying Missy Johnson’s Awkward series, which are standalone reads. In I Can Explain we get a funny and charming story full of awkward moments, great banter and captivating characters with light angst.
I loved Alana! She was smart and determined, but also sweet. She is lonely and one night hoping to let go a bit, decides to have a one-night stand. Yet somehow, instead finds herself shoved out in the balcony when the wife arrives of the man she did not know was married. To make matter worse, the neighbor is her boss. Now she finds herself outside of her boss’s home, in next to nothing.
Chase Winston is a bit older, sexy, very direct and an arrogant man. He was not always nice to Alana, but as the story continued, you could see him fall for her. Chase had moments where I wondered if he could have redeemed himself, but we were also able to see his history and the tension between his brother that helped make him who he was.
Once Chase finds Alana on his balcony, the sexual tension and chemistry between these two skyrockets. Chase is attracted to Alana, but his past impedes him from being everything she wants and being completely honest with her. I loved the interactions between these two! And Alana always seemed to find herself in the most awkward situations!
Could Chase and Alana find a way to make what they have real and long-lasting? I enjoyed reading this story and loved the characters. I am excited to read more of this series!
