Lyric by Molly McAdams is the first book in her Rebel series and a spin-off from her Redemption series. This, however, can be read as a standalone. In Lyric we get a suspenseful story full of twists and danger and two people who love each other but are star-crossed lovers of sorts.

Elizabeth Borello, Libby, has always loved Maxon James. But as a famous rock star who is always on the road, they enjoyed more of a friends with benefit relationship. The life he leads does not allow for a relationship, so they keep it light. Which suits Libby who wants to protect him.

Maxon loves Libby. Always has and he is determined to make her see that. But Libby’s has her own secrets and dangers lurking. Mainly her family and the mafia connection. Though he knows about the connection, does he understand what it all entails?

Maxon is back and intends to be around for some time. Libby is unprepared for what spending time with Maxon really means to their lives. I loved Maxon. He did everything he could to show her what she means to him, even as she continuously pushes him away. She just wants to keep him safe. They had such a strong connection, could they find a way to be together?

I loved this book! It was a lot more than a rock star romance or mafia romance. It is a story about secrets, danger, love, and hope and was full of angst. I was a huge fan of the Redemption series and I cannot wait to continue reading more of this series.
