There are times when the Earth stops moving and the weight of its gravity pulls you down, deeper than you ever thought possible. You tumble farther than you ever imagined falling…

And when the sun goes black and your heart feels empty, starting over seems like an impossible feat…

You’re not alone.

Twenty-Two Authors have joined together in this collection of short stories about fresh starts and second chances to help illustrate that even when life takes away everything, and when hope is a horizon you think you’ll never catch, it is possible to Begin Again.

Begin Again: A collection of short stories about Hope, Healing, and Love, benefiting the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and NAMI.
Release Date: January 11, 2018

This is probably the most difficult review I will ever write. Twenty-two authors have come together in support of suicide awareness and prevention in Begin Again: An Anthology. All proceeds will be donated to The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) which are two very amazing organizations. And I know them well.

I have personally felt the effects of suicide. I was 15 when I attempted suicide. This happened during a time when no one spoke of it, however, I was lucky enough to have the love and support of family and friends to see me through one of the darkest times of my life. But where I was fortunate to have that support, we all know that not everyone is so lucky. Suicide has touched our family in many ways. As unfortunate as it is, our family consists of many survivors of suicide attempts and we have watched others suffer through similar anguish and have survived losing someone to suicide.

In Begin Again, we get twenty-two unique stories of loss, depression, desperation, love, support and hope. Every story is original and depicts different situations. No one story of survival is the same and these authors did a great job depicting this. And the forward by Rebecca Yarros is everything. I want to share it with my daughters. It is honest, powerful, raw, painful and so damn hopeful.

This is an amazing project supporting two wonderful organizations. I have used and have been supported by NAMI, an organization that helps not only survivors of suicide attempts but their family as well. An organization that helps people who suffer from mental disorders with hope that it does get better. I hope everyone takes the time to support this cause and these amazing authors. Many who shared their own stories in their own ways. Suicide awareness and prevention is more widely supported and discussed now than it has in the past, but all support is welcome.
